Top 5 Things You Shouldn’t Post on Any Social Network

Social networks are being used so much in this modern day and age to bring people closer to each other even though they are far apart physically. It is usually amazing to know that you can talk to a friend of yours in an almost real time experience regardless of them being in another state, country or even continent from yours.

Since a lot of valuable information is equally passed through social networks presently, this has incredibly increased the popularity of social sites. However, social networks have also become a source of insecurity for so many people that have signed up to them. Most of the problems arise from the fact that users have a tendency to post pretty much anything and everything on social networks.

Well, you need to be careful about the things that you post in social media because they could for example get you scammed.

Here are Things not to Post in Social Networks

  1. Your personal details should not be posted in social networks at all, period! You could use your full names but you should not give out the names of your siblings, family name, your children and other personal details that could be useful to account hackers or scammers. What many people do not know is that there are so many scammers in the Internet and you will not know them until they scam you. Remember, it is better to be safe than sorry.

  2. Your location details are other details that you should not post in a social network. If for instance you are using Facebook, do not let your friends know where you are at all times. You may never know if one of your friends is a disguised scammer or their account has been hacked into and the hacker could try to harm you in one way or the other. If you really have to inform your facebook friends where you are going to, why not try to call them? That is safer!

  3. Do not post things that are embarrassing, and which you would not want to be known by your employers or your family members because they might leak out there and you will be the one to pay the price for having advertised your personal stuff. If you want an easy time in the social networks, think well before posting anything. Someone might share your posts in another forum and before you know it, everyone knows about the stupid things you did at one time in life that could ruin your reputation or have nasty consequences.

  4. Your relationship status is another thing that you should best not post in these social networks. Many scammers are looking out for people that are singe or those that have broken out of a relationship hence could be emotionally hurt or unstable at the time. Particularly people who would want to stalk you often check your relationship status. To be safe, do not take that update too seriously. It is best to leave it out of the information that you provide so that no one will know such details about you. This way, the scammer will not know how to get close to you.

Job related information is something else that you should never post in a social network. People will post about their current position, how well they are doing, the projects they are working on and so many other details without knowing that someone is watching their every post and could use these posts to harm them or their colleagues, family or even employer. A lot of things could go wrong when such information gets to the wrong hands
