Social Network Intenet Security

The millions of Social Network  subscribers will tell you that it is the number one social media site today. People from all walks of life have their own accounts for varied reasons. Some use it to connect with their long lost friends and relatives while some use it to share and update bits of information about themselves.

Although these intentions are good, there are unscrupulous individuals who may use your posts against you. Before you get into trouble, here are the 5 things that you should never post on Facebook.

Never Tell Your Present Location
Location tagging is one of the most loved features of Facebook. It allows you to let other people know where you are. Subscribers use it to meet up with friends, invite other people within the area to come over and join or simply to brag that they are in a beautiful place.

The information is cool for your friends, at least. But the problem comes when there are individuals stalking you. You become an easy target of their malicious works when they know where you are. They can easily get in the same place where you are and victimize you or they can break in your house (knowing that you are not around) and steal.

Avoid Sharing Pictures of Children with their Information
Children are highly vulnerable to cyber criminals. Do not let your kids suffer the online abuse. It is truly tempting to post and tag your children with your updates considering how proud you are as a parent.

But avoid this action as they can be the next target of offenders. The information you put about them can be used by strangers to lure your kids. You should also not upload any photo of children naked. This may be nothing for an innocent mind but for a pedophile, this can be an outlet of their obsessions.

Stop Saying that you are Alone at Home
Telling the whole world that you are all alone is extremely dangerous. Burglars and stalkers are just around waiting for the right time to attack you. Do not give them the opportunity to hurt you.

Do Not Update Your Relationship Status
Relationship status updates are one of the exciting parts of Facebook and your friends are too eager to see your changes in status. For a stalker, the updates mean a chance to get you. The idea that you are again single will surely excite them.

Limit the Personal Information You Add
Facebook may ask you to enter your address, telephone number, birthday, school attended, current work, etc. However, this does not mean that you enter all the information. Hackers may use the data to steal your identity and cause your huge damage.

Facebook has truly removed the idea of territorial boundaries. You can connect, chat and share information to the world in just a few clicks. But for your own protection, think before you post. It is always better to be safe than sorry.

BE SAFE
• Avoid giving personal information such as your address and phone number to someone you do not know.
• Avoid opening emails from unknown sources unless you do online marketing.
. Do not open attachments sent to you from unknown sources.
• Avoid online friendships with unknown persons of dubious character.
• Be careful who you meet in person who you've met online.
• Tell someone else about any bad Internet experiences you are having online especially if you are a child.
