Nokia Lumina 521
Nokia Lumia 521 targets half of the Americans who have not yet shifted to smartphone. The unit costs less compared with the other rivals in the market. It does not boast high-end cutting edge specs but it has 5MP camera that can compete with Samsung and Apple. Its tile interface and growing selection of applications make this a great deal for those who want to upgrade their phones but work on a tight budget.
Design
Lumia 521 showcases an attractive design and compact build. The solid and simple chassis is not the thinnest handset in the market, but it still feels very light. The back portion is covered with a smooth, white plastic cover while the front has a black bezel 4 inches display.
If you remove the cover, you will find a removable battery with both the SIM card slot and microSD card slot. Beneath the screen are the capacitive back, home and search buttons. The right side has glossy black volume rocker, power and camera button, on top, you will find the headphone jack and at the bottom is the microUSB port.
Nokia Lumia 521 uses 1 GHz dual core Snapdragon and 512 MB of RAM. For everyday use, most applications work fast and games can be enjoyed smoothly.

Pros
The compact and solid design makes Nokia Lumia 521 compete with the other smartphones in the market. It has quality camera, nice intuitive and customizable interface and loud audio. The screen responds well to touch even when you are wearing gloves. Although the speaker at the back is small, it has surprisingly loud and clear audio. Windows Phone 8’s approachable interface makes use of smartphone easier. The Kid’s corner feature reduces your worries about your children accessing inappropriate content.
Cons
For a phone this cheap, you expect that some features are to be cut. Nokia Lumia 521 chose to cut the resolution, 4G LTE support, front camera and battery life. The screen’s resolution is fairly low and photos on the lock screen appear fuzzy. This unit is definitely not a wireless speed demon. It only uses the HSPA +21 network. It also does not support LTE which is a deal breaker for client who frequently travels. For those who enjoy video chatting via Skype or other apps, Lumia 521 may not be the best unit as it does not have a front-facing camera.
Conclusion
Nokia Lumia 521 is an entry level Windows 8 Phone that offers a lot of features but for a lesser price. The compact design and solid build and the user-friendly interface are very attractive to newbies who just shifted in using smartphones. For old-timers who are used of high-end phones, this can be a deal breaker especially that it lacks front-facing camera, no LTE support and it has low resolution screen. But overall, this is still a good choice if you are not very particular with the deficient features. Considering its lower price versus other brands, the Lumia 521 will provide you a well-rounded experience with smartphones.
