Pros
The Nikon Coolpix L24 is a slight improvement from its predecessor, the Nikon Coolpix L22. It is capable of getting better images with the help of its 14 megapixel camera. In addition, with its 3 inch display, you will be able to see the images clearly with ease.
It is also a good camera for beginners since it has an in-camera help system, which will be able to guide users through the menus and various features that the camera may be able to provide.
Cons
Unfortunately, the Nikon Coolpix L24 has more drawbacks that it has positives. For example, its aperture range of f/3.1 - 6.7 is slow especially at the longer end of the zoom range. This attribute makes poor lighting a problem. In addition, adjusting the camera’s ISO makes it even more problematic due to the noise that it causes. This results in a grainy image, even when in moderate setting.
The Nikon Coolpix requires 2.3 second for it to start to take pictures, and a 2.6 second interval between taking the first photo to another one. In addition, in spite of its 14 megapixel lens, it is still not able to produce high quality images. Considering that 1,800 lines is the demarcation line for a very sharp image, the L24 falls way below it at 1,400. In addition, the noise that is being produced from the images add in the poorness of the quality of images.
Conclusion:
The Nikon Coolpix is the best choice if you are still trying to start out in the industry, or for a good getaway. However, if you are going to go professional it is best to avoid it since it is slow and does not produce much of high quality images in spite its 14 megapixel lens.
