Huawei Ascend Y300 Review
Huawei used to hide its name behind the customized handsets that it made for network operators. But the trend is changing. The company is releasing new and rounded product range that can compete with other popular brands in the market in terms of features and cost. The Huawei Ascend Y300 is a super low cost Android handset yet it is packed with great features. It is a breath of fresh air for the budget conscious market.
Design
The Huawei Ascend Y300 admittedly belongs to the lower level category when it comes to the design and build. The handset is thick and tall and it is definitely noticeable in the pocket. The chassis is made from plastic which is non-resistant to the wear and tear of daily use. The bottom part of the 4-inch screen has the Android touch buttons while the upper part has the front camera lens and a very discrete alert light. The top left edge houses the microUSB, the power switch and headset connector on the top, volume rocker on the right and the bottom edge is clear. The 4 screen has good resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.

Pros
Huawei realizes that the screen is one of the most important aspects that attract clients. With this, the Ascend Y300 uses 800 x 480 pixels along with the 4 inch screen. This is a lot better compared with the LG Optimus L3 II. The app management is unique giving you up to nine screen options. The dual core processor and Android 4.1 give a smoother ride. The battery runtime is excellent. When you consider the price, all these make the unit’s cost very affordable and reasonable.
Cons
If you are craving for a stylish phone with the best specs, then the Huawei Ascend Y300 will not keep you happy. The build could have been better and the design is too plain. The screen is not made from Gorilla Glass so it is more likely to be more susceptible to scratches from keys in your pocket. The performance is insufficient and unimpressive. It also has limited internal storage capacity. The 1 GB for apps and 1 GB for data is not a lot especially if you are big on apps like games. The unit is not suitable for heavy gamers who require a lot of memory to support their games and fashionable owners who value great design and solid build.
Conclusion
Huawei Ascend Y300 is a nice phone. It has a plain design and relatively good performance. The screen is very decent making it a great buy for those who are looking for a bargain. It levels up to the capabilities of LG’s L3 II but at a lower price. Just do not expect too much from the unit especially if you consider the amount you paid for it.It is not very appealing if you are looking for a stylish and high performance phone. But if you want to experience a slice of Android at a modest cost, then the Y300 is a nice choice.
