HP Pavilion DM1-4125EA Review

The HP Pavilion DM1-4125EA can catch up with your multi-tasking needs. It has a high definition video play back that is very appealing for movie lovers. Although it may not have the most excellent screen in the market, this is still a solid choice for those who do not want to expend a fortune with their laptop.

Design

HP Pavilion DM1-4125EA may not be the new super skinny ultrabook. It retains the usual bulk of laptops at a dimension of 292 x 215 x 32 mm and weight of 1.52 kg. Although not the thinnest and lightest netbook, it still does not weigh too much. You would not even notice the added few grams on your shoulder. The sturdy chassis gives it a more expensive design. There is a metal banding around the edge to give it a tougher exterior. It has a silver plastic chassis with a textured-effect lid and a black keyboard tray. The screen boasts an 11.6 inch display and a resolution of 1366 x 768.

A 1.3 MP webcam is found on top of the bezel. The keyboard uses isolated keys spread across the whole base. Around the rim, you will discover a VGA port, three USB 2.0 slots, HDMI output, Ethernet port, headphone and microphone jacks. The Beats Audio offers a nice quality sound providing more bass in the effect. The dual-core AMD E-450 processor gives a speedy performance with a generous 4GB of RAM

Pros

The sturdy construction looks and feels very solid. It can handle the regular knocks and bumps of everyday use. It has comfortable keyboard that makes heavy typing easier. It also has an excellent battery life. The powerful performance is great especially when you consider its price. The 4 GB of RAM keeps you going even when you open various web windows.

Cons

The screen is a major setback with the HP Pavilion DM1 – 4125EA. If you will watch videos in darkened room, this should not be a question. But if you use brilliant lighting, the colors, contrast and brightness become hassle. The trackpad is also awkward and it is very sensitive to even small movements. It is only suitable for few hours of work. If you intend to do more, it is advisable that you attach a mouse instead. The problem has been noted with other HP products and it is only disappointing that the same problem exists again.

Conclusion

Netbooks are still great options despite the continuous popularity of the ultrabooks. Many customers are still very much interested with devices like the HP Pavilion DM 1-4125EA. The comfortable keyboard, superb battery life, solid body and HD video playback are nice features to try on. But if you intend to do a lot of photo and video editing, you may want to look for other options. The unit is not attractive for its raw processing power and low resolution screen. But for basic web browsing and videos, the Pavilion DM 1 can cope up with your needs.
