How to Keep Yourself Protected Against Clickjacking

When you visit a website and you notice a video, link, image, or anything else on the website that you want to access; and when this is superimposed on top of the content that you are interested in; this is evidence of what is commonly referred to as clickjacking. What clickjacking does is redirect you to something different from what you want to access and make you do something that you did not initially want to do in the beginning.

People are very clever these days and they use the Internet to get what they want in the end. Someone may use clickjacking to steal clicks from you for instance, and this may make you do something entirely different from what you intended to do from the beginning. You need to avoid this by all means so that you can find the Internet safe and useful to you every time you are surfing.

The problem with clickjacking is that you will not even know when you click on the link set up by the hacker. That is why it is good to learn how you can protect yourself from such so that you will always stay focused and safe on the Internet.

How to Prevent Click Jacking

  • You need an up to date flash player so that you could always get a notification asking you for permission before anything gets access to your microphone, camera or any other device. If you have flash player already, it may be time to upgrade it so that you can benefit from this. The good thing is that the upgrade is usually free; therefore you can always stay safe from those using click jacking to benefit themselves at your expense.

  • You also need to edit your computer’s flash settings so that no one can access them  without your permission. Doing this increases the difficulty of a clickjacker gaining access to your computer and therefore no clickjackings will be experienced when you use your computer.

  • You also need to work on your Global settings and edit them to privacy settings where they will deny access to any unauthorized data. Consequently however hard a clickjacker tries to lure you into a trap, you will always remain way out of his/her grip.

You can opt to use Internet Explorer 8 and above as your browser because these have safeguards placed in them such that web developers can prevent any overlays on their website. Once web developers prevent their websites from such overlays, you can also enjoy accessing a website without them all the time as long as you are using these browsers.

If you are using Firefox as your browser, you can install ‘No Script plug-in’, which blocks all Flash movies from playing every time you visit a site. You can block flash ads with exceptions allow only those that will not bother you as you check out a certain site.

Clickjacking can waste much of your time and even stop you from what you were doing because it redirects you to something totally different. Most importantly it can increase your vulnerability to hackers.

But the good thing is there are many ways and possible remedies you can resort to if you want to free yourself from experiencing clickjacking episodes. You can therefore choose whatever approach you deem fit for you but all in all, you should stay wary of clickjacking and its adverse effects.
