Four Things a Hacker Dont Want You to Know.

Wireless access point with encryption does not make your computer usage secure. It is not a fool-proof way to keep you protected from online hackers. Cyber criminals have their own way of bypassing security features. They will make you believe that your wireless network is safe but they can in fact get into your system and attack you. This obviously reduces your level of Internet Security as well as your Computer Safety.

There are other 4 secrets that wireless hackers wish you will never know so that they can continuously break into your computer or your network.

1) WEP Encryption is Useless
WEP stands for Wired Equivalent Privacy. Its main intention is to provide a level of security for wireless users. It uses secret keys to encrypt data. The protection was reliable back then but today, offenders have found a way to hack the WEP security.

Nowadays, it is nothing but false Internet security. The protective measure can be cracked by even an average man within a few minutes. If you still have it, it is like leaving your doors open to burglars. The best thing to do is to change your WEP to stronger WPA 2 Wifi mechanism. The process is simple. Visit your router manufacturer for instructions.

2) Wireless Router’s MAC Filter is Ineffective
MAC (Media Access Control) is a unique identifier assigned to every network interface. It identifies every machine attached to your network. You can restrict access based on your allowable address list.

In theory, this sounds good as “outsiders” cannot easily join your network. But if you ask experts, they will say that MAC filter is synonymous to a cheap padlock. As a form of Internet security, this is pretty close to having none at all. MAC’s pitfalls lie in the fact that the security does not encrypt and the addresses are not unique. Hackers can easily eavesdrop on your wireless connection by creating an address that matches an approved one.

3) Disabling the Router’s Remote Administration is a Good Effort
Disabling the wireless router’s remote administration may seem to be a simple effort but it is an effective way to be secure in your computer usage. When you turn off the Allow Admin via the wireless feature, you have a new level of Internet Security and Computer Safety also. The feature restricts access to other individuals from joining your network uninvited.

4) Hacking Attacks are Common with Public Hotspots
Sensitive data are more at risks in public hotspots. Hackers use various tools to intercept wireless conversation between an authorized sender and receiver.
They act as the “man-in-the-middle” and insert themselves to gather confidential information. Once they break in, they can gain access to your account, send messages, read email and change your privacy settings.

Cyber criminals can also use the data to enter even the secure websites that you visit. Cyber crime is very common and individuals who keep on believing they have Internet Security settings when they dont - are the most vulnerable. Hackers are all around and their main goal is to deceive every internet user.

If you do not want to fall into their ruthless hands, be sure to secure your data well. Invest in a strong Internet Security Software to keep your personal data personal.
