Apple iPhone 5

 

Apple has released a newer and bolder version of iPhone in September 2012. The iPhone 5 is a touchscreen-based smartphone which is slimmer, lighter and sharper compared with the other generations. It has a 4-inch screen and a custom-designed ARMv7 processor called the Apple A6. The processor is ultimately faster than the earlier versions. The new generation has also an aluminum body for a more durable and elegant finish.

 

Design

During its press event, Apple emphasized that they have redesigned 6th generation of iPhone. This version uses an aluminum composite frame instead of the stainless steel. The body is only 0.30 inch-thick which makes the unit 18% thinner from its predecessors. It has a bigger 4-inch screen and more elongated body. The overall construction is excellent both visually and under the finger.

 

It is powered by the new A6 chip which is twice as powerful as the iPhone 4S. The headphone jack is at the bottom and the iSight front-facing camera in the middle. Its feel in the hands is smooth and a little slippery. And while it looks nice, the front does not really add much to the design of iPhone 4.

Pros      

Apple iPhone 5 added everything that clients are looking for from the iPhone 4S. It has 4G LTE, a longer and larger screen, free turn-by-turn navigation and of course a faster A6 processor. Its top-to-bottom design is also slimmer, sharper and lighter. The high resolution display and the extremely high pixel density screen coupled with a high resolution camera makes images more colorful, bolder and vibrant. It also has lots of RAM thus increasing its data support.

 

The dual core processor is highly impressive. It makes all processes ultra-fast and significantly faster than all earlier models. Its noise canceling property improves the call quality. Lastly, the battery life is amazing. It can last for up to 9 days on a standby mode and 8 hours of talk time.

 

Cons

The Maps application contains many serious errors and the still smaller connector makes the other accessories unusable without an adapter. The propriety USB connector even makes its use limited. Although the screen size is larger, it is still not comparable with other jumbo Android models. Some features are still lacking like the NFC, microSD slot and optical zoom for camera. The incompatibilities with LTE networks have been noted. There are also hardware issues, unintended purple hue in photos and the coating is very prone to chipping and scratches.
