6 Facebook Mistakes

Facebook is becoming very popular these days. People are always updating their status, posting photos, liking comments and commenting on other people’s status updates and basically doing all sorts of things in the social network.

No doubt, there is a lot to enjoy in the site and a lot of people spend so much time in it just so that they can get entertained as well as connect with the people in their lives. However, the problem is that there is always the possibility of someone watching over everything you are doing on Facebook.

As you post personal or intimate details about your life, there could be someone waiting to use that information against you.

Increasingly nowadays, many of the scams and insecurity we experience come from the seemingly incidental mistakes we make on Facebook.

These mistakes include:

  1. Using an out of date version of Internet security is one of the mistakes that people make and they end up falling victims to account hackers and online scammers. You need to use an updated browser and antivirus program all the time in order to ensure you won’t be vulnerable to any Facebook hacker.

  2. Bad Internet habits are other things that will lead you straight to the traps of a Facebook account hacker. For instance, a good number of people have the habit of clicking on anything that they come across. This is very dangerous because you could click on a link that will straight away lead you to the clutch of these online scammers. Such unknown links may expose confidential details about yourself to a hacker and before you know it the same could be use to harm you.

  3. Use of the same password for all the accounts that you have online is a major mistake that can lead to account hacking. Practically everybody now have more than one online account, right? However do not make the mistake of using the same password you are using on another account for your Facebook account. This is an important precaution because if unfortunately that other account is hacked into, the hacker is likely to try using the same password on your other accounts including Facebook.

  4. Accepting friend’s requests from strangers that you do not know anything about is another mistake that you need to avoid as you use Facebook. There are so many people using Facebook for the wrong reasons and once they enter your list of friends, they can access your personal data and this could be used against you in the end. Actually, it is really important that you only accept friend requests from people you know.

  5. Your relationship status is another main interest for most account hackers. If you are in a relationship or you are single, it is important to keep it to yourself because you may never know who is following you. As soon as you change your status to single from being in a relationship, some stalkers may use this information as an opportunity to start following you around. If anything, do not provide any information about your relationships. This is a part of your life that you would rather keep to yourself.

  6. Information pertaining to your current location is something else that you need to avoid sharing on Facebook by all means. Do not give these account hackers information that can easily lead them to where you are because they could take advantage of the same to harm you.

These are the top six common mistakes that a great percentage of Facebook users make every day. To avoid putting your safety at risk, avoid them.
