Dark Chocolate Recipes

Dark chocolates are healthier options for desserts. This is because they contain chemicals known to lower the blood pressure, boost the energy and uplift the mood. But aside from the health benefits, everyone loves them because of the burst of rich and yummy flavor.

 

They satisfy the sweet tooth craving and they serve as the number one comfort food. To add another twist to your regular desserts, here are some dark chocolate recipes that you can do at home.

 

Dark Chocolate Brownies

 

Ingredients:

 

  • Unsweetened dark chocolate

  • 1 cup salted butter

  • 5 tablespoons canola oil

  • 2 cups sugar

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 tsp. vanilla

  • 1 cup flour

  • ¾ cup chopped walnuts

 

Procedure:

 

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat the baking pan with 2 tablespoon canola oil and place it in the oven.

  2. In a saucepan, melt butter, dark chocolate and oil over little heat. Once melted, remove from heat.

  3. Add sugar and mix well. Add eggs one at a time and mix well after each addition.

  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and add flour and fold in the nuts.

  5. Place the batter in the preheated pan and bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until the brownies pull away from the pan.

  6. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes and cut into bars.

 

The recipe can make about 20 bars. For a more sumptuous dessert, pair it up with vanilla ice cream or a hot chocolate drink.

 

Dark Chocolate Cake

 

Ingredients:

 

  • 1 ½ cup all purpose flour

  • ¼ cup crushed almonds

  • 5 tablespoons cocoa powder

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 4 ounces grated beets

  • Non-fat or low fat milk

  • 2 tbsp black coffee

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 cup sugar

 

Procedure:

 

  1. Combine all the dry ingredients in a bowl except for sugar, beets and coffee.

  2. In another bowl, whisk the egg and sugar until it becomes fluffy. Gradually pour the beets, buttermilk and coffee. Fold in all the ingredients and mix until smooth.

  3. Pour the batter in a non-stick baking pan and bake for 35 minutes at 150 degrees Celsius.

  4. To check whether the dark chocolate cake is cooked, poke it with a toothpick. If bits of cake stick to it, cook it some more.

  5. Once done, cool for 10 minutes and prepare the icing.

 

Icing:

 

Ingredients

 

  • ½ cup dark chocolate pieces

  • 2 tbsp honey

  • 2 tbsp black coffee

 

Procedure

 

  1. Mix all ingredients in low heat. Once blended, remove from heat.

  2. Spread the icing over the cake with a spatula and decorate as desired.

 

Dark Chocolate Trifle

 

If you have less time and very minimal cooking skill, there is another dark chocolate recipe that you can still enjoy.

 

Ingredients

 

  • American-style muffin

  • 200 grams dark chocolate

  • 500 grams cherries soaked in rum overnight

  • 250 grams mascarpone

  • 400 grams custard

  • 250 ml whipping cream

 

Procedure

 

  1. Slice the muffin into half, poke the different areas with a fork and spread a cherry jam on each side. Place the muffins in a decorative dish and add a tablespoon of cherry juice and scatter the cherries on top.

  2. In another container, melt the dark chocolates in a pan and set aside.

  3. Beat the mascarpone in a bowl and add the custard. Add the melted chocolate and whisk together.

  4. Pour the mixture in the muffin and allow to set in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

  5. Top with whipped cream and decorate.

  6. Grate dark chocolate on top for a more appetizing look.
